Michael Tobey
Founder and managing Principal
Michael Tobey is the Founder and Managing Principal of Springline and is responsible for the identification, acquisition, and operation of the acquired company. Mike brings over ten years of professional experience in a variety of roles, responsibilities, and industries.
Mike’s experience as an investment banker at both Goldman Sachs in New York and RBC Capital Markets in Denver gave him the opportunity to work extensively with top level management teams at companies of all sizes and stages of life-cycle. Mike has advised on major corporate decisions including M&A, capital structure, capital investment, reorganizations, and lender negotiations. Prior to business school Mike was a Portfolio Manager for Northern Trust where he managed broad investment portfolios for family trusts, pensions, endowments, and foundations exposing him to a diverse set of asset classes and industries as well as the successful entrepreneurs that established these funds.
Mike earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in entrepreneurship, economics, and accounting; his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business; and is a CFA Charterholder. Prior to his professional career, Mike served as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was awarded several letters of commendation and the Purple Heart.
